《木》剧的主人公王尔烈是辽宁历史名人。他博学多才，能诗善文，为人刚直不阿，为官清廉不奢。王尔烈考中了二甲头名，得到了乾隆皇帝的赏识，然而却被奸臣所陷害。王尔烈为教授禺琰，历尽艰辛，被害入狱，后被侠女从石牢中救出。禺琰在老师指教下，跋山涉水，体察民情，也在莲花山找到了木鱼石。王尔烈指点他：“这块山石，其实一文不值，但不登泰山，不知山高；不涉沧海，不知水深；不于民间苦行，怎能分辨忠奸善恶。”王尔烈为朝廷做出了令人钦佩的贡献，晚年却告老还乡……。Survivors of a tragic shipping collision are rescued by a mysterious black ship which appears out of the fog.
